This webinar covers the process by which those in the scholar community can become Presidential appointees. The Presidential Personnel Office (PPO) is responsible for aiding the President in recruiting, vetting, and nominating over 4,000 political appointments throughout the federal government. We will be joined by representatives from PPO as well as current political appointees who can share their experiences.
Today, the Asian American Scholar Forum launched, “Project Pioneer” to educate the public on the history of Asian American pioneers and scholars who have contributed to our country and the world. We are kicking off this crucial project this month by partnering with the National Science Foundation on our first video series lifting up Asian American inventors who have significantly impacted our everyday lives.
Today, the Asian American Scholar Forum (AASF) joins the Society of Chinese Bioscientists in America, the Chinese American Hematologist and Oncologist Network, and the Chinese Biological Investigators Society in a letter published in Science Magazine that raised concerns about widespread investigations of Asian American and immigrant scientists under what science policy reporter Jeffrey Mervis has called the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) “China Initiative.”
The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) announced the election of AASF board member Dr. Gang Chen in recognition of his distinguished and continuing achievements in original research. Dr. Chen was among 120 members and 23 international members elected this May.
