Last Friday, as efforts continue to build a future national museum dedicated to preserving and elevating Asian Pacific American history and culture, the Asian American Scholar Forum was recognized as a Founding Sponsor during the Commission to Study the Potential Creation of a National Museum of Asian Pacific American History and Culture’s AANHPI Heritage Month reception in New York City, hosted by Senator Andy Kim and Congresswoman Grace Meng.
Senator Andy Kim and Congresswoman Grace Meng hosted the event to share updates on the Commission’s progress and vision for bringing the museum to life. Established by Congress in 2022, the Commission was created to evaluate the feasibility, structure, and funding strategy for a future national museum dedicated to preserving and showcasing the history, art, and cultural contributions of Asian Pacific Americans in the United States.
Senator Andy Kim and Congresswoman Grace Meng shared their remarks.
The reception highlighted the Commission’s ongoing efforts to engage communities across the country through listening sessions and convenings that will help shape recommendations to Congress and develop a roadmap for the museum’s creation.
The Commission is comprised of distinguished members from across the Nation, appointed by the bipartisan leaders of the United States Congress.
“This project represents an important opportunity to ensure that Asian Pacific American history and contributions are recognized as part of the broader American story,” said Asian American Scholar Forum Executive Director Gisela Perez Kusakawa. “As a Founding Sponsor, AASF is proud to invest in creating a lasting national space for education, reflection, and recognition. Supporting this effort is essential to preserving our community’s legacy and ensuring future generations understand the vital role Asian Pacific Americans have played in shaping our nation.”
